What is Viewer Financing?
Most film and video productions are viewer financed, sort of...
Traditionally, viewers pay for a program after it is finished by buying movie
tickets, renting DVDs, paying their cable bills and so on. Those sales are
then used to repay whoever financed the project initially.
Of course, profitability is a major factor in determining which projects get
financed and therefore which projects get made in the first place.
With "Are You Gonna Eat That?" viewers pay for the program before it is
completed and therefore directly encourage its production. You, the viewer,
are financing the type of programming that you want to see. And, you are helping
to produce a new genre of documentary - Viewer Financed - one which puts
more control into the hands of consumers and less in the hands of other interests.
So isn't it time we asked...
Are You Gonna Eat That?
"How you spend your money is how you vote on what exists in the world."
